After the successful first walking football tournament on the island of Vis last year, during which the local team LINCINE VIS was formed, the first international walking football tournament in the Split-Dalmatia County will take place on Vis on May 10, 2025, at 10 a.m. In addition to the hosts, three European teams from Austria, Hungary, and North Macedonia will participate, with around 60 participants expected.

Walking football, a new version of football adapted for people over 60 years old, continues to grow strongly and spread in Croatia. This unique sport, already played in over 70 countries worldwide, is promoted in Croatia by the association Sijede vrijede.

The tournament is an important event for promoting walking football as a sport that encourages active and safe aging, bringing joy, community, and health into the lives of older adults. The rules of walking football clearly prohibit running, physical contact, and heading the ball, reducing the risk of injury and ensuring a pleasant and safe game for all participants.

The association Sijede vrijede continuously organizes training sessions, tournaments, and international cooperation, and this tournament on Vis represents another step in strengthening the walking football community and popularizing the sport in the region.

Besides the competitive aspect, the tournament will also be an opportunity for socializing, exchanging experiences, and promoting a healthy and active lifestyle in mature age.
